Your first step: Fill out an online job application. Our academy is certified through the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center and follows the same general admission requirements and certification standards when reviewing applicants.
All qualified applicants will be scheduled for a three-part assessment battery that consists of a written test (TABE), physical ability test, and panel interview. The assessment will take place over 1-2 days.
Applicants advancing to the background investigation will be asked to complete a Personal History Statement. The Personal History Statement will be the basis for a rigorous background investigation.
The most qualified candidates are given conditional offers of employment. Applicants must still successfully complete psychological, polygraph and medical examinations prior to a final offer of employment.
Those receiving final offers will begin the LPD basic law enforcement academy. A unique program held in a college-style learning environment at the Lincoln Police Department, the academy allows you to continue living at home with no overnights required.
