The goal of the Crime Prevention Unit is to increase community awareness about the risk of crime and victimization and to generate a sense of responsibility within every individual to take reasonable steps to reduce that risk.

Personnel of the unit provide presentations to the community related to reducing crime and making your area a safer place in which to live, as well as conducting security assessments for homes and businesses. Members of the unit participate in community events year round, such as Boo at the Zoo and National Night Out.

The unit also partners with local media to provide public safety and crime prevention information, with a focus on Crime Stoppers cases, for both radio and television segments.
