City Sponsors Two Online Events for Businesses Next Week

Lincoln and Lancaster County businesses are invited to participate in two virtual events in October - A Procurement Workshop hosted by the City of Lincoln, and a Business-to-Business Townhall hosted by the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. The events are sponsored by the City of Lincoln in partnership with the Mayor's Economic Recovery Task Force, the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, and the Lincoln Independent Business Association.

The events developed from the Task Force report released in September that recommends strategies for Lincoln's economic recovery and resilience. The report is available at COVID19.lincoln.ne.gov on the "Business Resources" page. The recommendations include development of additional opportunities to share information and resources among businesses, and enhancement of local access to City/County contracting opportunities to encourage greater localization of spending. The schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, October 28, 4 to 4:45 p.m. - Procurement 101: How Your Business Can Do Business with the City/County: City-County Purchasing Director Bob Walla will give a presentation on competing for local government contracts. No registration is required. The following topics will be discussed:

The event will be aired on LNKTV, the City government access channel. It is available on Allo channel 2, Spectrum channel 1300, and Kinetic channel 1005. This workshop will also be streamed at LNKTV.lincoln.ne.gov and available at YouTube.com/LNKTVcity and facebook.com/LNKTVcity.

Thursday, October 29, 3 to 4 p.m. - Business-to-Business Townhall on Employee Mental Health and Social Connectedness: This townhall will address the impacts of COVID-19 on employees and ways employers can promote employee wellbeing. This event will include an opportunity to ask questions and share insights. To participate, register at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: wellbeing). Featured speakers include:

The event will be aired on LNKTV Health, the City government access health channel. The channel is available on Allo channel 3; Spectrum channel 1301; Kinetic channel 1010; YouTube.com/LNKTVhealth; and facebook.com/LNKTVhealth.
