LFR Urges Donations to Help Texas Families

Lincoln Fire and Rescue (LFR) is receiving numerous offers of donations of food clothing and financial assistance for the men and women serving on Nebraska Task Force 1 (NETF1), the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team based at LFR. NETF1 continues to assist with Hurricane Harvey search, rescue and other operations.

Fire Chief Micheal Despain said those offers are appreciated, but members of the task force are well equipped and do not need any type of donations. He encouraged donors to focus on helping those most directly affected by the disaster.

"Many families and firefighters in Texas are tirelessly helping their communities while their own homes and personal property have been destroyed," said Chief Despain. "LFR encourages the public to give generously through traditional and reputable domestic assistance organizations like American Red Cross ( and the Salvation Army ("

Despain said those who want to specifically help first responders in Texas can donate to the State Firefighters' and Fire Marshals' Association of Texas (, and 100 percent of those donations will go directly to members of local fire agencies that have been hardest hit.
