Parks and Recreation Seeks Americorp Members

The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department is accepting applications for eight half-time Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) AmeriCorps members. To apply, contact Deb Buckman at dbuckman@lincoln.ne.gov or 402-441-4907.

The HEAL project encourages physical activity and healthy nutrition habits by offering three different programs:

• The Fit4Life Club is for youth from kindergarten through 8th grade
• The Move More Mondays program allows kids and adults to participate in activities at parks and recreation centers throughout the service year
• Crunch & Lunch is a free summer camp at a local park for youth from kindergarten through 8th grade.

AmeriCorps members must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. Those in the half-time positions will work 900 hours over 10 months. Members receive a $303.54 living allowance every two weeks and an education award of $2,907.50 upon successful completion.
