Health Department Shares Pool Safety Guidelines

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) reminds residents that the City requires all swimming pools with a depth of 18 inches or more to be completely surrounded by a wall or fence at least four feet high. All pool gates or doors must be self-closing and self-latching. No fence is required if the pool is above ground and if the pool's rigid walls are at least four feet high. Ladders used with an above ground pool must be removed when not in use.

More information about the residential pool fencing code is available by calling LLCHD at 402-441-8002. Unfenced pools may also be reported to that number.
