New York Times Columnist to Speak at Civil Rights Conference

The Lincoln Commission on Human Rights (LCHR) invites the public to the annual Civil Rights Conference Tuesday, April 25 at Innovation Campus, 2021 Transformation Dr. The keynote luncheon speaker will be Dan Barry, New York Times columnist and author of The Boys in the Bunkhouse, Servitude and Salvation in the Heartland.

The conference will open with remarks from Betty Bottiger, Director of the Region VII Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and L. Jack Vasquez, Jr., Deputy Director of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in the St. Louis District Office.

The conference includes sessions on the following topics:

The Gerald Henderson Human Rights Award will be presented during the conference lunch. The award honors a person, organization or group who has made significant accomplishments in promoting human rights. It is named after LCHR's first Executive Director.
