Fire Chief Niles Ford, 441-8350

Lincoln Fire and Rescue (LFR) Chief Niles Ford announced today that Deputy Chief Bruce Sellon has successfully completed the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Sellon participated in an intensive two-week leadership course for each of the four past years at the Academy.

Sellon’s research project topics included paramedic staffing, wellness programs and hazardous materials training. In 2007 his project involved defining and developing a professional standard of conduct for LFR. It received a perfect score and will be eligible for the 2008 Outstanding Research Award.

“We are very proud and excited about the commitment of our employees to better their knowledge, skills, abilities and competence,” said Chief Ford. “Continued training is important to Lincoln Fire and Rescue as we work to provide the best possible service to our community.”

Other current LFR officers who have completed the entire Executive Fire Officer Program are Assistant Chief Rich Furasek and Deputy Chief Danny Wright. Assistant Chief John Huff and Deputy Chief Dean Staberg have completed all the course work. Captain Kim McKay, Deputy Chief Leo Benes and Captain Tim Linke are currently enrolled, and Deputy Chief Jeanne Pashalek is in the application process.
