How to Translate a Web Page

We offer an online translation service from Google on our web pages. You may also visit translate.google.com and paste the URL of a webpage. disclaimer

Some current web browsers will ask you to translate a webpage if it is not in your native language. Other browsers require add-ons.

Due to updates, these instructions may differ for your application or device.

Translate a Web Page

If your device is not already set to your preferred language, please see the following instructions:

Chrome and Edge on a computer or laptop

Both Chrome and Edge have translators built in.

  1. On your computer, open Chrome or Edge.
  2. Go to a webpage written in another language.
  3. You should be prompted at the top to pick a language and translate.
  4. This will translate the webpage this one time.
  5. You can go back and use the dropdown or three dots menu to pick a different language.
Chrome on Android

The Chrome app on your phone or tablet also has translation built in.

  1. On your phone or tablet, open Chrome.
  2. Go to a webpage written in another language.
  3. You should be prompted at the bottom to pick a language and translate.
  4. This will translate the webpage this one time.
  5. You can go back and use the three dots menu to pick a different language.
Safari on iOS

Apple does not have their own translation service, so you must rely on a third-party add on. You can install Microsoft's Translator app from the App Store.

  1. Open Safari on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Head to the webpage that you want to translate.
  3. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the display.
  4. Tap the Microsoft Translator button. This extension will then translate the entire page for you.
Firefox

By default, Firefox has no function for translation. If you must translate content on a regular basis, you can install an add-on extension. None are officially sanctioned from Firefox but you can find a recommended one in their translator add-on list.

How to Change Your Browser's Language Settings

Change the language of your Chrome browser (Windows & Chromebook only)

You can set Chrome to show all settings and menus in the language you want. This option is only available on Windows and Chromebook computers.

On Mac or Linux? Chrome will automatically display in the default system language for your computer.

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More More and then Settings.
  3. At the bottom, click Advanced.
  4. Under "Languages," click Language.
  5. Next to the language you'd like to use, click More More.
  6. If the language isn't listed, add it by clicking Add languages.
  7. Click Display Google Chrome in this language or Display Chrome OS in this language.
  8. This option is only available on Windows and Chromebook computers.
  9. Restart Chrome to apply the changes.
Changing the language display of Mozilla Firefox
  1. Click the menu button and select Options.
  2. In the Language section of the General panel, choose a language in the drop-down menu.
  3. Restart Firefox.

How to Change Your Device's Language Settings

Change the language on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
  1. Open Settings. On the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap General. On the next screen, tap General.
  3. Select Language & Region. Scroll down and tap Language & Region.
  4. Tap Device language. On the next screen, tap "[Device] Language".
  5. Select your language. Pick your language from the list.
  6. Confirm your selection.
Change language on your Android device
  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open your device's Settings app Google. Google Account.
  2. At the top, tap Data & personalization.
  3. Under "General preferences for the web," tap Language.
  4. Tap Edit.
  5. Choose your language. At the top right, tap Select.
  6. If you understand multiple languages, tap Add another language.
Change display language - Windows
  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Clock, Language, and Region option.
  3. Click on the Change the display language link.
  4. In the Choose a display language drop-down list, select the language you to use as the display language and click OK.
Change display language - Mac OSX
  1. Choose the Apple menu, then System Preferences.
  2. Click Language & Region
  3. Click General
  4. Add or Change the primary language.
