The “Drug Impaired Driving Enforcement” campaign is directed at cracking down on drunk and drug impaired drivers. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office participated in the campaign by conducting saturation patrol from April 19, 2022 thru April 23, 2022. Additional deputies were on duty to run traffic on an individual basis with their efforts concentrated on the detection of impaired drivers and other alcohol related violations.
The deputies involved in the saturation patrol contacted 126 vehicles, arrested 2 people on outstanding arrest warrants, issued 49 official traffic citations, issued 104 warning/defect cards, and made 1 criminal arrest.
Official traffic citations included 2 driving while intoxicated, 3 driving during suspension, 1 seatbelt violation, 3 open alcohol container violations, 30 speeding, and 10 various traffic law violations. A Deputy certified as a Drug Recognition Expert was on duty and assisted the Lincoln Police Department with the evaluation of an impaired driver.
The criminal arrest was made for carrying a concealed weapon.
Overtime compensation for the additional deputies working during the mobilization will be paid through a mini-grant funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
