‘Speed Catches Up With You’ is a nationwide mobilization sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office. This mobilization is geared towards the reduction of speed related fatalities. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office participated in the mobilization through saturation patrol by increasing the number of deputies working in marked cruisers. Additional deputies were scheduled to work from July 27, 2026, through August 08, 2026 and focused their efforts on speed related traffic violations.
The deputies involved in the saturation patrol contacted 189 vehicles, issued 151 official traffic citations, issued 90 warning/defect cards, and arrested 1 person on an outstanding warrant.
Official citations included 105 speeding, 2 driving during suspension, 2 ignition interlock violations, 2 stop sign violations, 5 traffic signal violations, 22 registration and insurance violations, and 13 various traffic law violations.
Overtime compensation for the additional deputies working during the crackdown was paid through a mini grant funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
