The ‘Make It Click’ mobilization is a national campaign geared towards increasing awareness and the usage of seatbelts and child restraint systems. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office participated in the enforcement efforts from May 15, 2026, through May 31, 2026, by increasing the number of deputies enforcing traffic law violations throughout Lancaster County.
During the enforcement period, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office contacted 125 vehicles, issued 99 official traffic citations, 94 warning/defect cards and made 3 criminal arrests. Official traffic citations were issued for the following offenses: 1 driving under the influence, 2 driving during suspension, 3 seatbelt violations, 52 speeding violations, 8 stop sign violation, 22 registration and insurance violations, 6 driving without a valid operator’s license, and 5 various traffic law violations.
Criminal law violations included 1 possession of a controlled substance, 1 possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce, 1 possession of drug paraphernalia.
Overtime for the additional deputies working during the mobilization will be paid through a mini grant funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
