LANCASTER COUNTY, NE - At approximately 9:48 pm on November 13th, 2025, Lancaster County Sheriff's Office (LSO) deputies and emergency medical units were notified of a two-vehicle crash occurring on Highway 33 between SW 42nd Street and SW 72nd Street, approximately 3 miles east of Crete, Nebraska.
Based upon the preliminary investigation, a westbound 2013 white Ford Fusion, driven by Hermelinda Reynoso (27) of Milford, NE, crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound 2010 blue Honda Accord Crosstour, driven by Alyssa Jeffrey (24) of Friend, NE. The vehicles hit nearly head-on in the eastbound lanes of Highway 33 and suffered significant damage, trapping both drivers in their vehicles. Jeffrey was extricated from her vehicle and transported to a local hospital by air ambulance, where she remains in critical but stable condition. Sadly, Reynoso was pronounced dead at the scene. No other individuals were involved in the crash.
Highway 33 was closed for approximately 6 hours while investigators with LSO's Crash Reconstruction Team worked to process the scene. Over the next several days and weeks, they will work to determine what happened during the crash. Jeffrey was wearing a seat belt. Reynoso was not properly restrained. Alcohol use by Reynoso is suspected to be a factor in this crash. Investigators are still working to determine whether speed or distracted driving played a significant role. Next of kin has been notified.
LSO would like to thank medical personnel from Crete Fire & Rescue, Southwest Rural Fire, Lincoln Fire & Rescue, and StarCare for their response and assistance with this crash.
