On Saturday, May 6th, 2023, Chace Abney passed away as a result from his injuries from an officer involved shooting which occurred on May 1st, 2023, in Lincoln, involving members of the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force. Abney was transported to the Douglas County Medical Center in Omaha where an autopsy will be performed. The autopsy is scheduled for Monday, May 8th, 2023 at 8:30 a.m..
